World Cup winner former Indian versatile Yuvraj Singh must come out of retirement and play home cricket again after being nominated in Punjab’s 30-strong list of odds for next month’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.
Yuvraj, the star of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning campaign, announced his retirement last June, but he decided to resume playing for his home state after he was contacted by Punjab Cricket Association secretary Puneet Bali.
The 39-year-old left-handed batsman, who played 304 ODIs, 40 Tests and 58 T20Is for India, trained at the PCA stadium in Mohali and also posted a video of his forearms on social media.
Yuvraj participated in the T20 global league in Canada after his retirement.
Also left-arm seamstress Barinder Sran, who was hacked by Punjab’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad leading him to switch to Chandigarh last year, was nominated in the list of odds.
BCCI plans to lead the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the T20 national championship, starting January 10, whose places will be declared later.
The tournament will become bio-safe and teams will have to meet at their respective bases by January 2nd.

Sreesanth among Kerala odds
Former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth on Tuesday approached a return to competitive cricket after being named in Kerala’s 26-odds list according to the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament.
The 37-year-old Sreesanth, who was banned by the BCCI due to his alleged involvement in repair in IPL, stars alongside Sanju Samson, Sachin Baby, Jalaj Saxena, Robin Uthaapa and Basil Thampi among others.
The T20 tournament starts on January 2nd.
His ban ended in September this year.
The pacifist, who last represented India in 2011, will take part in a preparatory camp to be held here from December 20 to 30, sources said.
Sreesanth, who was part of the triumphant Indian squads in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup, was earlier named in one of the squads according to a local T20 tournament to be held by Kerala Cricket Association in Alappuzha since 17 December.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the postponement of the domestic season and the T20 tournament will mark the start of the 2020-21 season.
