Xiaomi eBook Reader Pro officially launched in China for 1,099 yuan ($ 168)

As expected, Xiaomi today officially launched its newest product on the market – Xiaomi eBook Reader Pro. Now pre-orderable, the device is currently priced at 1,099 yuan, which is about $ 168 instead of its original price of 1,299 yuan (~ $ 198).

The name clearly indicates that the device is an improved variant of the Xiaomi eBook Reader launched in November last year. The new model comes with a larger 7.8-inch e-ink screen, compared to the 6-inch panel of the original model.

It offers a screen resolution of 1872 x 1404 pixels and a 300PPI pixel density. The device offers 24 different levels of display – from cold to warm light. Furthermore, there is support for several library import methods, including Baidu Netdisk, WLAN Transfer, and so on.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi eBook Reader Pro is powered by a four-core high-quality, low-power processor. It has a built-in hardware EPDC controller for smoother page-turning operation. The company also adds that users can quickly find what they are looking for by typing or using voice commands.

The company says the size is closer to A5 paper and that the device is portable and lightweight as it measures just 7 mm thick and weighs 251 grams. Xiaomi says the device lasts up to 70 days when it is fully charged.
