New Delhi. The biggest match of 2020 between India and Australia is now just one day away. Both teams will play the first Test match of the Border Avas Gavaskar Trophy (Adelaide Test) from December 1. This test game will be day and night and pink ball will be used in it. The Indian team will play abroad for the first time with a pink ball. Australia have played seven Tests with the Pink Ball and have won each time. In such a situation, Indian players, especially batsmen, will be severely tested. The biggest of the batsmen will be in the opener, whose selection will prove to be less than a headache for Indian captain Virat Kohli.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has selected a 18-member squad for the Test series against Australia. In it there are five players, who have played as openers at one time or another. These players are Mayank Agrawal, Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul, Shubhaman Gill and Hanuma Vihari. What is special is that none of these batsmen are in good form nor can they be called out form. A dictionary is often used in sports – ‘good headache’ means good headache. He must be facing the same pain before the huge Test game.

Mayank Agrawal has been confirmed to play

Of the five players, only Mayank Agarwal is certain to play. Mayank was also part of the ODI and T20 teams. He made a good start in the first two ODIs. But he could not extend his innings. In the second practice game, he scored a half-century. In such cases, one end of the opening is sure to point them. Also read: IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli desperate to break Ricky Ponty’s world record, Adelaide will witness!

Earth in extreme aggression

Prithvi Shaw is considered to be an aggressive batsman in the style of Virender Sehwag. But recently it has been seen that they have lost wickets. Sunil Gavaskar says that Shaw plays more shots in the beginning and this is the big reason why he lost his wicket.

Contenders for the second opener

Second openers Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari are the contenders. Of these, Gill’s claim to play seems even stronger. They look in good rhythm. His score on the tour of Australia was 33 33, 0, 2, 43. Is 65 Alan Border has also backed Gill’s claim. Gavaskar said it would be right to open with Mayank and Gill in the first Test.

KL and Bihari made weak claims

KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari could also be options. But team management probably wants to try these two in the middle order. Maybe that’s why KL was not tried in the singles practice game. Bihari opened on his last visit to Australia. They also make useful offspin sacrifices. In that case, he is likely to be selected in the sixth batch. In their day-night Test against Australia, the Indian team does not want to experiment with Vihari.
