Son and daughter are facing off in the controversy over Pranab Mukherjee’s upcoming book

New Delhi Son Abhijeet Mukherjee and daughter Sharmishtha Mukherjee face off with former President Pranab Mukherjee’s book ‘The Presidential Years’ to be published in January. Expressing concern, Abhijit has urged the publisher not to release the book while Sharmishtha has appealed to Abhijit not to obstruct the publication of the book. Sharmishtha said that if there was any obstruction in the publication of the book, it would be a great service to the former president, which would be like throwing away his work.

Notably, Abhijeet Mukherjee tweeted one after another on Monday demanding the release of the book. Expressing concern over some parts of the book that came out in the media, Abhijit Mukherjee said, “My father is not alive today, so as his son, I want to see him before the book is published.” If my father were alive today, he would do the same. Mukherjee further tagged the publisher and wrote that since he (Pranab Mukherjee) is his son, I request him to stop publishing immediately without my written consent.

Don’t put any obstacles in publishing – shame

Sharmishtha tweeted and requested Bhai Abhijeet that there should be no unnecessary obstruction in the publication of the last book written by his father. He asserted that his father had completed the manuscript before he became ill. The final draft contains his (Pranab Mukherjee) handwritten notes and comments.

Sharmishtha has said that the views expressed on his behalf are his own. No one should try to stop it from being published for cheap publicity. He says the book is called “The Presidential Memoirs”, not “The Presidential Years.”

Find out what’s in the book

Let us know that this book by Pranab Mukherjee is coming out in January next year and there has been a lot of controversy over this book before its publication. In fact, according to the book, Pranab Mukherjee himself wrote that the Congress had lost its leadership after he became president and Sonia Gandhi could not handle the party’s affairs.

According to the book, Pranab Mukherjee also wrote that former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh spent more time in his tenure defending the UPA alliance, which had a negative impact on the functioning of the government. Clearly, in such a scenario, Pranab Mukherjee’s book could exacerbate the problems of the Congress. Let me tell you that Mukherjee wrote the rite ‘The Presidential Years’ before his death. Published by Rupa Publications, the book will be available to readers from January 2021. Mukherjee died in July at the age of 84 due to health complications.
