The Maharashtra government has made a provision of Rs 1.77 crore to additional security measures at the Nagpur residence of Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde. The provision was made in the supplementary requirements of the legal and judicial department presented in the national legislature on Monday.
No reason for the provision was mentioned in the document of supplementary requirements. Nagpur is the hometown of CJI Bobde.
According to requirements of the state Department of Public Works, Rs 5.75 crore was earmarked for construction and related works at Raj Bhavan and another Rs 6.16 crore for construction and related works at judges ’residences. The state government has allocated 2,211 crore to help farmers affected by natural disasters and 22 crore for COVID-19 vaccine air conditioning facilities as it put up a crore of 21,992.50 additional requirements in the assembly on Monday.
Additional requirements are additional grants needed to meet government spending. The winter session of the Legislative Parliament, traditionally held in Nagpur – the second capital of the state – takes place in Mumbai considering the COVID-19 pandemic.
