Google Home Max cost $ 179 and then it disappeared

After three and a million years of “Hey Google,” the Google Home Max smart speaker is gone, though if you have one, you’ll still get support for the foreseeable future.

“We have run out of Google Home Max and will no longer manufacture the device,” a Google spokesman confirmed in a statement after an earlier report from Engadget. “With the launch of Nest Audio, we offer a range of excellent home audio solutions, especially with two Nest Audios paired for stereo sound.”

Google has moved most of its smart speakers to the Nest brand and now offers the smaller ones Google Nest Mini and Nest Audio. Home Max’s closest competitors in size are the $ 499 Sonos Five (which lacks a microphone) and in function the $ 200 Amazon Echo Studio. Both speakers probably offer better sound than the Max, though.

Google Home Max is a great device compared to most smart speakers, which means it’s only suitable for side tables or TV stands, and while the product debuted at $ 399, it’s now selling for $ 179 or $ 180. If you want, rather hurry: It’s exhausted at Google itself, but Verizon still has stock, and also PC Richard and a few other places if you’re hunting around.
