Dilbar Hussain will miss a majority of BBL due to a popliteal

The news

The fast bowler was excluded from the Melbourne Stars campaign for up to six weeks

Pakistani fast bowler Dilbar Hussain was excluded from the Melbourne Stars’ BBL campaign for four to six weeks with moderate popliteal strain, leaving him unreachable until late January.

Hussain suffered the injury while bowling his second in the Stars’ comfortable win over the Sydney Thunder in Canberra on Saturday.

He sneered in pain after giving birth and grabbed his left popliteal before limping off the ground with Hilton Cartwright required to complete the finale.

Hussain took 2 for 25 in the opening match of the tournament against the Brisbane Heat.

The injury further extends the list of stars. They re-signed Pakistan fast Haris Rauf but he is not available until after Pakistan’s examination series against New Zealand, with the second and final Test ending on 7 January.

Caribbean batsman Nicholas Pooran will be available for the Stars shortly after playing for Caribbean A in a two-game series against New Zealand A in New Zealand.
