Cyberpunk 2077 ‘was not ready’ for PS4 and XBox One X, developers admit

Cyberpunk 2077 is easily the most advertised game of the year, and since its release last week many have come to the conclusion that it wasn’t the monster it was predicted to be. After its stock price fell more than 50% yesterday, developer CD Projekt Red (CDPR) had an urgent conference call with investors earlier today to look at what went wrong.

CDPR’s business development director, Michal Nowakowski, was forced to acknowledge that the company was focusing resources on the new generation consoles – X Box Series S / X and PS5. A quote from the call, reported on Android Central, said: “It’s more about looking at – as has been said before – computer and next-gen activity rather than current, we certainly haven’t spent enough time looking at that. I wouldn’t say that we felt some external or internal pressure launch on the date – in addition to the normal pressure that is typical for any release. So that was not the cause. “

Of course this should not be confused with “absolutely no pressure”. As one of the biggest launch titles for the new gen. devices and one of the top titles on Christmas charts this year, CDPR would have a major flaw in the industry if it were delayed more than the 21 days it already had. In that sense the pressure was huge to get Cyberpunk 2077 in the stores and online stores on time.

Development of Cyberpunk 2077 has dropped, and CEO Marcin Iwiński explained that the PS4 and Xbox One X versions were being processed until launch. “Unfortunately that turned out to be given to reviewers just one day before the release, which was certainly too late and the media didn’t have a chance to review it properly. That wasn’t intended; we just arranged the game until the last moment.”

CDPR added that although it has already apologized for the glitches that made the game look like an early iteration of Apple Maps, there are no special refund procedures, and that disgruntled users will have to contact their retailer or online store in the usual way. .

It seems, then, the best way to experience Cyberpunk 2077 as it should be, is to get a new console. These links will tell you where to find supplies of PS5 and Xbox Series S / X when they enter. Alternatively, as Google tried to remind us, it plays great at Stadia (maybe at OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 edition?)
