- ‘Vaccination nationality’ will hit poor countries hard
- Rich countries have already booked large quantities of vaccines
- Canada orders vaccinations more than times its population
Canada has the highest number of vaccination orders per capita. He has ordered the purchase of five times more vaccine companies than his population needs. But Canadian government spokesmen said it was possible that some of Canada’s orders might not give the green light to use the vaccine. The Government of Canada is taking this precaution into account.
The People’s Vaccine Alliance says that as rich countries order vaccines, it looks like the poorest 700 countries will be able to vaccinate only 10% of them by 2021. The People’s Vaccine Alliance includes prominent organizations such as Amnesty International. Gregory Hussey, a professor at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, told CNN that the first covid vaccine was intended to take a global approach. But now the vaccine has become the most nationalistic. Speaking on the same channel, John Nekansang, head of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said the lack of vaccines in poor countries had a catastrophic effect. “Some countries have more vaccines and some countries don’t. It’s not ethical in any way,” he said.
When the Corona epidemic broke out, an international initiative called Kovacs appeared. It is led by the Taccine Alliance – Gavi. The rich and middle-income countries involved have pledged to spend money on vaccines. He also said that they would provide vaccines fairly in all countries. In addition, the poorest countries in Africa also signed a separate agreement called the Kovacs facility. The cost of providing vaccines through it is being provided by the International Development Association and charitable organizations like Bill and Melinda Gates. So far, 18 countries have signed both agreements.
Gavi said that money would not be an obstacle in the way of vaccinating everyone. The Gavi Alliance has raised २ 2 billion to buy the vaccine for poor countries. He expects to raise billions of dollars by the end of next year. But the real question is the availability of this vaccine. Companies that have already sold vaccines cannot buy Gavie. The European Union, the United Kingdom and Canada gave more money to the Kovacs. But as soon as the vaccine was created, he immediately reached a bilateral agreement to buy the vaccine from private companies. The People’s Vaccine Alliance says Kovacs has been ignored by these purchase agreements.
Canada’s Minister for International Development, Kareena Gould, said her country wanted to protect itself because most vaccines were currently under construction and were only in theoretical range. So Canada has agreements with a number of companies, such as Kovacs. This is done with the understanding that it is possible that these vaccines may not be very realistic.
Experts say citizens of different countries need to understand what is needed first to ensure their vaccination. But this is a sad reality. Experts say it is not enough to raise money if there is no supply. According to him, the situation so far looks very complicated.
