CHANDIGARH: Launching a sharp attack on the BJP due to the protest of peasants against the three central farming laws, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday called the saffron feast as a “true tukde tukde band” and accused it of configuration Hindus against Sikhs in Punjab.
Claiming that “the BJP first pitted Hindus against Muslims”, Badal said the party “has become the most powerful divisive force”, to “repeat its bad game in Punjab”.
Asking his former ally to avoid the “arrogant attitude” about the farm laws and accept what peasants want, Badal warned the BJP against any attempt to set up Hindus against Sikhs.
He said that if one speaks in favor of the central government, he is called ‘Desh Bhakt’ and if he speaks against it, he is branded as a ‘tukde tukde band’.
“BJP is the real #TukdeTukdeGang in the country. It has shattered national unity, shamelessly inciting Hindus against Muslims and now desperately setting up peaceful Punjabi Hindus against their Sikh brothers esp #farmers. They are pushing patriotic Punjab into common flames,” Badal said in a tweet.
The SAD has left the National Democratic Alliance on the issue of farm laws. SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal also resigned as union minister.
Later in a statement, Badal claimed that the BJP “divides the country into pieces by pitting one community against another.”
“So desperate is the power that it has no scruples about the going of the common polarization path and the entry of the country community flames“, He asserted.
“The BJP first pitted Hindus against Muslims. Now it is decided to repeat the same bad game and realize the same tragedy in Punjab as well, ”he asserted.
“It conspires to set up our peaceful Hindu brothers in Punjab against their Sikh brothers with whom they have shared strong blood ties for centuries. The BJP wants to replace those blood ties with bloodshed,” he further asserted.
He warned the BJP against any attempt to incite “brothers” against each other.
The SAD leader accused the saffron party of frequenting “dangerous conspiracies to sabotage the troubled atmosphere of peace and communal harmony only to achieve petty political goals.”
“The BJP leadership must realize that their party has today become the most powerful divisive force. It has frequented division of the country and its people by spreading hatred in the name of religion, “he asserted.
Shiromani leader Akali Dal called on the BJP-led Center to avoid its “arrogant attitude”.
“Those who framed (farm) laws have never engaged in agricultural activities. The central government should act on what its officers say, ”he added.
Referring to the continued agitation of peasants over the three rural laws, Badal said, “The whole country except the BJP gratefully acknowledges the debt we owe to our patriotic peasants and soldiers.”
“The BJP is provoking the people to deny that debt. It believes only in emotionally exploiting the sacrifices of peasants, but remains so ungrateful to them that it paints them as anti-national.
“Today it is against peasants. No one knows what BJP might say even about soldiers tomorrow if it suits them. The farmers are hurt and angry with the BJP, ”he claimed.
Badal said it is shocking and unbelievable that a party that claimed to be proud of India’s heritage aims to “destroy” the foundations of that same heritage.
Thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and elsewhere are protesting near various border areas of Delhi including Singhu and Tikri for more than half a month demanding the Center repeal three new farming laws.
