On December 14, an imitation complaint filed by actor Hrithik Roshan in 2016 against “unidentified individuals” was handed over by the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell to the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU). The transfer follows a letter written by plaintiff Mahesh Jethmalani’s lawyer to Mumbai’s police commissioner about the lack of progress in the case.
What does Roshan’s complaint have to do with Ranaut?
In 2016, Roshan filed the imitation complaint after days of heat exchange with colleague Kangana Ranaut. The quarrel between the two actors, who worked together on Krrish 3 (2013), began when Roshan sent Ranaut legal notice after she called him her “stupid ex” during an interview. He first responded on Twitter, disputing the existence of any previous romantic relationship with Ranaut. He wrote that there are more chances for him to have an “affair with d (sic) Pope”. Roshan followed this with legal notice, demanding a public apology from his former co-actor. Ranaut refused to apologize, claiming the two were romantically involved in 2014. She sent a counter-announcement to Roshan, asking him to notice him or face a criminal trial.
Why did Roshan file a complaint about imitation?
Roshan’s legal notice alleged mental harassment by Ranaut. It claimed that she sent him 1,439 emails to which he never responded other than to tell people in the film industry that they were related. It suggested that whoever Ranaut was in contact with was a cheater, pretending to be Roshan.
Ranaut denied the suggestion, saying the special email ID used for her correspondence with him was given to her by Roshan herself. She added that the email was private to prevent it from having a negative impact on the divorce proceedings between Roshan and his wife Sussanne Khan.
The word war has continued on Twitter in the meantime, and Roshan claimed at one point that Ranaut was “imagining” things when she suffered from Asperger’s syndrome. His comment has caused a lot of criticism, especially parents of children with autism spectrum disorders.
Roshan finally filed a case at the Mumbai Police Cyber Cell under section 419 (imitation) of the Indian Penal Code and section 66 (c) – identity theft – and section 66 (d) – fraud by personalization by computer means – of the Information Technology. Act. A police investigation, however, did not find out much, as the email ID was U.S.-based and a NIL report was filed in 2017. 📣 Follow Explicit Explained in Telegram
How did Ranaut react to the latest development?
The news of the handover of the case to the CIU created outrage on social media after Ranaut posted a tweet, accusing Roshan of dredging up an old number and asking:cable tak royega ek chote se affair que liye (how long will you cry over a trivial matter?). ”She wrote,“ His crying story begins again, so many years after our separation and his divorce but he refuses to move on, refuses to date a woman, just as I gather courage to find some hope in my personal life he starts the same drama again. “
