There is no other way to say this that Mahindra 2020 Thar is a success in the Indian market and has exceeded all our expectations. It impressed enthusiasts, journalists and even other people who have now chosen to buy the new SUV. Mahindra’s extensive hard work to make the 2020-Thar a more everyday driver has finally turned out. Mahindra has received more than 20,000 reservations for the Thar, so the new SUV is reserved until May 2021. Surprisingly, recently a new spy shot of the Thar 2020 has appeared on the internet. Here we can see that it has a new Silver color that is not yet available with Mahindra.
The spy SUV here carries some camouflage on the doors, but we can see clearly that the Thar is Silver and it comes equipped with steel wheels that are better for off-road. This could mean that there are still some color options that Mahindra will launch or at least the manufacturer will launch Silver color for the 2020 Thar. The photos of the SUV were posted by Sarath Santham on Facebook.
Mahindra is working hard to resolve the issue with long waiting periods. This issue arose because Mahindra did not expect such an overwhelming response for the Thar. They are already working hard and claiming that they have increased production capacity by 50 percent. Such high demand shows that there are still people who are off-road enthusiasts looking for a suitable 4 × 4 SUV that can also meet their family needs, being their only daily driver. The SUV was recently crash-tested by Global NCAP. It was able to earn a 4-star rating for adult safety as well as for child safety. This combined means a 4-star overall rating out of 5 for the 2020 Thar. Mahindra will discontinue the 6-seat version of the Thar, which comes with side seats as they are not as secure as front rear seats. You can read more about it by clicking here. Due to this Mahindra has already stopped making reservations for the AX variant which is offered with the 6-seat option.
Running the Mahindra 2020 Thar is one petrol and one diesel engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed pivot force converter automatic gearbox. This is one of the reasons behind the huge success of the Thar 2020. Earlier Thar was offered only with a diesel engine that was paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. However there is now a new petrol engine on display at the 2020 Motor Show. It is also offered with an automatic gearbox which has attracted many new customers for Mahindra. The new 2.0-liter mStallion gasoline engine produces 150 hp. Maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. The 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine produces 130 hp. Maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque transformer automatic gearbox. Mahindra 2020 Thar starts from Rs. 9.80 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 13.75 lakhs ex-showroom.
